Swimming Programs
The Oakland Barracudas offer programs for swimmers of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
Our Guppies Swim Group is for ages 5 and up, and is structured to encourage participation in competitive swimming while focusing on the fundamentals of stroke technique. The low time commitment allows the swimmers to be involved in other activities, while still offering a consistent practice schedule throughout the year. Consistently attending three 1-hour practices a week is recommended. [more]
Our Age Group Competitive Swimming Program – which includes the Bronze, Silver, and Gold squads – focuses on encouraging swimmers ages 5 and up to participate in competitive swimming while developing competitive swimming skills and stroke technique, as well as conditioning and endurance. Age Group swimmers compete at the local and regional levels. [more]
The Senior Program includes the Senior I, Senior II, and National squads. While technique and mechanics continue to be emphasized, endurance training becomes a more prominent focus. As swimmers progress through the Senior Program, they are encouraged to increase their commitment to swimming. Senior swimmers participate in competitive meets at the local and regional levels, with the most advanced swimmers also competing at the national level. [more]
The Masters Swim Team offers a variety of opportunities to adult swimmers. Masters coaches provide professional instruction to swimmers, who practice on weekdays in the early morning, some evenings, and on Saturday. Some swimmers compete at the Masters level, while others focus on swimming for fitness. [more]
