History

The Oakland Barracudas, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1996. Over the years the team has evolved and developed into a strong swim team in Oakland. The team started as strictly an age group program, and in 2001 added a Masters program and Learn to Swim lessons. In 2009, the Oakland Barracudas named Lael Ajay as Age Group & Seniors Coach.

The team practices at Live Oak Pool in Oakland and maintains a strong relationship with the City of Oakland and Oakland High School which won its league championships in May of 2008. The CUDA swimmers are also active in the Oakland community by volunteering with the local Special Olympics swim team as volunteer instructors. The team is looking forward to a great winter season.
